Vietnam blends natural wonders, rich history, and dynamic culture in a way few countries do. You get towering karst isles, peaceful rice terraces, colonial architecture, vibrant street-food scenes, and warm, welcoming people. Whether you want adventure, relaxation, cultural immersion or culinary delights, Vietnam delivers. It’s compact, diverse, and offers major landmarks plus lesser-known gems that feel special.

Hanoi → Ha Long Bay/Cát Bà → Ninh Bình (Trang An)

Start in Hanoi (Old Quarter, Hoàn Kiếm Lake, Temple of Literature, Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long). Day trips or overnights to Ha Long Bay–Cát Bà Archipelago (UNESCO seascape of limestone karsts; classic overnight cruise, kayaking) and Ninh Bình’s Trang An (UNESCO karst landscapes; boat caves at Trang An/Tam Cốc, Hang Múa viewpoint)

Northern Mountains: Sapa & Hà Giang

From Hanoi head north to Sapa (terraced valleys, ethnic villages, Fansipan summit via record-holding cable car) and the Hà Giang Loop (Quan Bạ–Đồng Văn–Mèo Vạc mountain passes, epic viewpoints). Both offer top trekking, homestays, and markets.

Huế → Đà Nẵng → Hội An (Central heritage coast)

Explore Huế’s Imperial City & royal tombs (UNESCO), coast over the Hai Vân Pass to Đà Nẵng (beaches, Marble Mountains, Sơn Trà/“Monkey Mountain”), ride the cable car to Bà Nà Hills’ Golden Bridge, then on to Hội An Ancient Town (UNESCO lantern town) and nearby Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary (UNESCO Cham temples).

Phong Nha–Kẻ Bàng (via Đồng Hới) & nearby wartime sites

Base in Đồng Hới to reach Phong Nha–Kẻ Bàng National Park (UNESCO karst; famed caves like Phong Nha, Paradise, and expedition-only Sơn Đoòng, the world’s largest). Many itineraries also include historic sites from the former DMZ region.

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) → Củ Chi → Mekong Delta (Cần Thơ/ Bến Tre)

In HCMC: War Remnants Museum, colonial landmarks, markets and food tours. Day trip to the Củ Chi Tunnels. Stay in the Mekong Delta to see the Cái Răng Floating Market (Cần Thơ) at dawn and coconut-waterways in Bến Tre; add homestays and boat trips.

Southern Beaches, Highlands & Islands:

Nha Trang → Đà Lạt → Mũi Né → Phú Quốc/ Côn Đảo
